Short answers
Can every eSIM be topped up?
Top-ups depend on the selected plan and its current state. Reported support does not guarantee that an add-on is available now. In My eSIMs, open the existing plan and use View top-up plans when that action is offered.
Does an eSIM top-up extend its expiry?
Do not assume that extra data extends the original expiry or restarts its validity. Review the selected add-on’s validity and activation conditions. If its effect on your remaining travel dates is unclear, clarify it before paying.
Is topping up my wallet the same as adding eSIM data?
No. Wallet funding adds money to your account balance. An eSIM top-up is a separate purchase for an owned plan, with its own quoted charge and confirmation. A wallet credit alone does not add mobile data.
What if I paid but the result is still pending?
A payment or submitted request does not establish that the add-on is complete. Use Check request status when shown. If needed, Retry the same request preserves the existing request reference. Do not resolve an unknown outcome by buying a second add-on.
Check what has actually run out
Sign in to My eSIMs and open the plan you intend to use. Select Refresh status, then read its status, Checked time, Ends field and Reported data usage. The Usage checked time belongs to the usage reading; it can differ from the status check. An unavailable or old reading is not evidence of zero data.
| What the plan shows | Useful next step |
|---|---|
| A current reading reports no remaining data | Check the plan’s status and expiry, then inspect any available top-up options. More data still needs suitable coverage and validity. |
| The plan is expired or its reported end time has passed | Do not assume a data add-on can reactivate it. Review the current status and supported actions; clarify the term before purchasing anything. |
| Usage is missing, says Not reported, or has an old check time | Refresh status and inspect the new reading and any notice. Missing data means unknown, not exhausted. |
| Data and validity remain, but the phone cannot connect | Check the selected data line and the installation guide before buying more data. A connection fault is not proof that the allowance is depleted. |
| An earlier action needs confirmation | Resolve that existing request before choosing another paid action. The plan may hide new actions while the earlier result remains uncertain. |
Use the eSIM installation guide for profile, data-line and connection checks. If only a laptop has trouble, follow the hotspot guide. These checks help you decide whether buying data addresses the problem you actually have.
Look for top-ups on the owned plan
The plan’s reported Top-up support is a capability, while View top-up plans is an action available in its current account state. Portproof offers that action only for an eligible active eSIM with reported support. A missing support field leaves the capability unconfirmed; a missing action can also reflect the plan’s status, purchasing availability or an unresolved earlier request.
- Open the correct owned plan in My eSIMs and read any attention message.
- When offered, select View top-up plans under Top up this plan.
- Choose a Top-up plan from the returned options. Read its displayed facts before requesting a quote.
If the page says no top-up plans are available for this eSIM right now, there is no add-on to choose from that reading. Do not treat the original support label as a promise of future stock, price or availability. If you need a separate plan, use the eSIM catalogue, but first resolve any earlier purchase whose outcome is unclear.
Review the add-on’s own terms
Read Top-up data, Validity and Coverage for the selected option, including its covered-country list. Read Activation and Speed policy when reported. An add-on’s name or similarity to the original plan does not establish the same coverage or conditions.
- Allowance: does the displayed amount fit your remaining work? Use the eSIM data calculator with a relevant measured sample instead of assuming a fixed amount per travel day.
- Time: what does the stated validity cover, and what starts it? Do not add those days to the original end time unless the actual terms establish that behaviour.
- Destination: does the selected add-on cover the places where you still need data? Check actual destinations rather than relying on a regional name.
- Required features: if sharing a connection or another capability matters, confirm it for the add-on. An omitted field is not a promise.
The eSIM data calculator estimates allowance, while the trip planning guide helps check destinations and dates. Neither determines whether an add-on extends an existing plan. Clarify missing terms before making the purchase responsible for the rest of your trip.
Review the wallet charge, then confirm
- Select Review top-up quote. Requesting or reading a quote does not purchase the add-on.
- Check the quoted action, Wallet charge in EUR and Quote valid until. Quotes are valid for five minutes from creation; use the displayed deadline rather than the time you opened the page.
- Read the Terms, Acceptable Use Policy, immediate-delivery statement and linked refund policy. Accept the displayed confirmation only if you intend to proceed.
- Select Pay with the displayed EUR amount to confirm that charge from your wallet. Keep the result on screen while you check what happened.
The Wallet page holds your account’s EUR balance. If it lacks sufficient funds, review the balance and any funding payment there. A return from a payment page alone is not proof that the wallet was credited; check the balance and ledger. Once funding is confirmed, the eSIM add-on still requires its own valid quote and explicit payment confirmation.
If you have not submitted the quote, Discard quote lets you leave it without purchasing. An expired unsubmitted quote must be discarded and replaced with a fresh one. Review the new amount and terms again. A previously submitted request needs the recovery steps below, even if its quote deadline has since passed.
Recover the existing request before buying again
| Result on screen | Next action |
|---|---|
| The unsubmitted quote has expired | Use Discard quote, request a fresh quote, then review it before confirming. |
| Your wallet does not have enough funds for this quote | Review Wallet. After resolving the balance, retry the unsubmitted quote while valid, or discard it and request a new one. |
| The request is awaiting a confirmed result | Use Check request status when offered. Pending, submitted and unknown results are not completion. |
| The response was lost after you confirmed | Keep the existing page open. Check request status if available; otherwise use Retry the same request when shown. This retains the same quote, amount and request reference. |
| The quote expired after submission | Check the existing request or retry that same request using the retained control. Expiry does not establish that the submitted action failed. |
| The request is complete | Review its reported charge and order, then refresh the plan’s usage before relying on the data. |
| The request was not completed | Read the latest status, attention message, order and wallet entries before deciding whether another attempt is appropriate. |
Retry the same request is a recovery action for the retained request, not a way to buy a fresh add-on. It preserves the original confirmation and amount. A new quote or a purchase on another page is a different action and does not resolve the first result.
The retry controls belong to the open page. If you close or reload it and those controls are gone, inspect the existing plan and Orders. Use View this request’s order & receipt when the result provides that link. If the earlier action still needs confirmation, contact support with the relevant order reference and the visible error; do not create another purchase to test whether payment worked.
Keep the purchase outcome separate from a refund decision. An uncertain result is not proof that a refund is due or has arrived. Read any confirmed result and the wallet ledger; customer-requested refunds follow the refund policy and owner-review process.
Check the plan after confirmed completion
Return to the same owned eSIM and select Refresh status. Read Reported data usage and its Usage checked time. Plan details can still describe the original offer; its Allowance label is not a fresh measurement of remaining data. If the new usage is unavailable, preserve that uncertainty instead of assuming that either zero data or the expected extra amount has been confirmed.
Check the current status and any reported end time against the dates you need service. Then make a small connection check on the intended data line. A completed top-up request does not by itself prove coverage or a working phone connection. Follow the installation guide if connection problems remain; do not delete the profile as a routine top-up step.
This is a separately confirmed add-on purchase. Portproof does not offer automatic eSIM renewal through this flow. Review your remaining allowance and time before the next leg of travel, and use only the current actions and options shown for the owned plan.
Scope of these instructions
These steps describe the account flow as of 22 October 2026. Your plan’s current details, available actions and the service terms govern your purchase. If the displayed options differ or a required condition is unclear, check with support before paying.
What is not allowed
Purchase add-ons only for plans you own or are authorised to manage. Keep account and installation details private and follow the acceptable-use policy.
