Law-enforcement guidelines

How Portproof responds to requests from courts, prosecutors and law-enforcement authorities, and what data exists to respond with.

1. What data exists

For each account: the subscriber (email, and the legal entity where verification was completed), order and payment records, and traffic usage aggregates. For each dedicated port, where that product is in use: the egress IP assignment history with timestamps, per-minute traffic aggregates, rotation log entries and probe results, and a per-destination-ASN five-minute aggregate kept 30 days. Payload, URLs and per-flow records do not exist and cannot be produced. Retention is 90 days by default or the statutory period where applicable.

2. Legal basis for disclosure

• Court orders and prosecutor requests that are valid in the country where the service is operated (LT).
• European Production and Preservation Orders under Regulation (EU) 2023/1543 (e-Evidence), applicable since 18 August 2026, with the 10-day and 8-hour emergency deadlines observed.
• Mutual legal assistance for authorities outside the EU; direct requests are answered only in emergencies involving imminent risk to life.

3. How to submit

By email to abuse@portproof.org from an official domain, with the legal instrument attached, the port identifier or egress IP with a UTC timestamp, and the specific data sought. Preservation requests are honoured for 90 days pending an order. Overbroad requests are narrowed or refused.

4. Customer notice and transparency

Customers are notified of requests concerning their ports unless legally prohibited or where notice would endanger an investigation.

5. Digital Services Act contact point

abuse@portproof.org is the single point of contact for Member State authorities, the Commission and the Board under the DSA; communications are accepted in English and Lithuanian.

6. Abuse reports

Abuse reports go to abuse@portproof.org and are answered within 24 hours. Credible notices lead to suspension of the credentials concerned pending review.
